Maria Elena Sanchez (1939 - 2018) passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in Hurst, Texas after a short illness. Maria was born on November, 14, 1939 in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Uvalde, TX. She was a child of itinerant migrant farm workers, moving with the harvests from south Texas to Washington State. In the 1950s her family moved to Dallas, Texas where she married Alfredo Sanchez in 1961. Maria worked as a school lunch worker to be near her children and later ran a successful catering business with her husband. She enjoyed...

Maria Elena Sanchez (1939 - 2018) passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in Hurst, Texas after a short illness. Maria was born on November, 14, 1939 in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Uvalde, TX. She was a child of itinerant migrant farm workers, moving with the harvests from south Texas to Washington State. In the 1950s her family moved to Dallas, Texas where she married Alfredo Sanchez in 1961. Maria worked as a school lunch worker to be near her children and later ran a successful catering business with her husband. She enjoyed Latin music, especially Mariachi, visiting family in Mexico, and spending time with her extended family, children, and grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents Pedro Chacon Segura and Edelmira Rios Segura and her husband of 49 years, Alfredo Almanza Sanchez.



She is survived by her children and their families daughter, Irma Sanchez Klassen and husband, Peter and their daughter, Elena Kee and her husband, Chris; daughter, Tari Bauer and husband, Mark and their children, Tyler Bauer and his wife, Kristi, Mandie Bauer, and Olivia Bauer; and son, Alfredo S. Sanchez and wife, Kay and their daughter, Avary Sanchez. Sisters, Edelmira Garcia, Rosa Garcia, Rosario Garcia, Guadalupe Kaiser, Belia Benavides, and her brother, Rodolfo Segura and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.



Mrs. Sanchez visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Gonzalez Funeral Home, 3050 N. Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, TX 75247. Memorial service will be Friday, January 12, 2018 at 1 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Colleyville, 1000 Church St. Colleyville, TX.
