Obituary


He was born on April 1, 1924 in Corsicana, TX. He took his last breath peacefully on August 7, 2017 at age 93. Lupe had a devoted love for his 13 children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He had a passion for dancing, Big Band, and Las Vegas. Lupe grew up in Gonzales TX.



As a young man he joined Civilian Conservation Corp. He later enlisted in the Army where he served his country honorably and with distinction during the Battle of the Bulge in WWII as part of the 94th...

He was born on April 1, 1924 in Corsicana, TX. He took his last breath peacefully on August 7, 2017 at age 93. Lupe had a devoted love for his 13 children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He had a passion for dancing, Big Band, and Las Vegas. Lupe grew up in Gonzales TX.



As a young man he joined Civilian Conservation Corp. He later enlisted in the Army where he served his country honorably and with distinction during the Battle of the Bulge in WWII as part of the 94th Infantry 301st Division Company G where he was awarded 2 Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and various other medals.



On 6-21-1948 he married his beloved wife Mary of 49 yrs. He served his community with great pride and passion through numerous organizations. He was a member of Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe where he served as an Usher for over 50yrs. For several years he loved volunteering his services as a licensed barber for the Clergymen in the Cathedral rectory. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Woodman of the World, De Colores Cursillo, Daughters of WWII, St. Vincent de Paul, VFW, 94th Infantry, Black and White and many others. He was faithful in donating to multiple charity's and doing volunteer work.



He later retired from Neiman Marcus after 25 years as a Jewelry Designer, where he broke barriers being the 1st Hispanic hired at Neiman Marcus. He continued his work at home as a jeweler where he had an integral part in the making of the crown for the Virgin de Guadalupe and designing pieces for many family members and friends.



He was called home to be with his loving wife Mary, and sons Juan Garcia, Lupito, Richard, Ruben, Alfred.



Lupe is survived by his children Edward, Erminia, Steven, Esmeralda, Priscilla, Hector, Gabriel, and Gerard, 26 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.



Visitation will be held Sunday August 13, 2017 from 3:00PM till 7:00PM with a Rosary scheduled for 5:00PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home. Please join the family 10:30AM Monday August 14, 2017 at the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin Guadalupe for a Mass of Christian Burial 2215 Ross Ave. Dallas, TX 75201. Interment Calvary Hill Cemetery.



Lupe will be sorely missed by numerous family and friends. He was a great leader and mentor to all of us. We are proud and honored to have been part of your life.
